~THE SILHOUETTE ERA~
Headliners The Silhouette Era practically define Northern California's own brand of garage-surf; not that of summer heartache but of the sheer adrenaline of first loves. Influenced by the raw minimalism of bands like Pixies and The Stooges, The Silhouette Era creates blasts of scuzzy hooks similar to acts like Wavves and FIDLAR.
~THE Y AXES~
"Far keener on Ray Bradburys subtler suburban-meets-apocalyptic sensibilities than the stereotypical laser fights in deep space side of the genre, she stuck to sci-fi as she ventured further into lyric writing. On the melodic side, Nelson started chipping away at the bands sound. Its indie-pop, by definition. CHVRCHES and HAIM are consistent reference points, although Belchere is lately obsessed Carly Rae Jepsen. To wit, Jepsens hyper-enthusiastic pop sound is even apparent in the bands most recent music." - SF Weekly
"Solos arent the only thing at which the group excelsthere is also their talent for vocal harmonies, and 60s-inspired, danceable garage rock tunes. The group is so obsessed with capturing that raw retro sound that they even recorded their demo on a four-track. 'I dont think were going to be going into a studio anytime soon. We like that lo-fi sound that we get from doing that DIY stuff,' Ellzey says." - GoodTimes Newspaper
"Alex Ramirez is an acoustic singer/songwriter who records in a lo-fi, do-it-yourself style. Ramirez has a distinctive vocal style, characterized by his 'whispery melodic' delivery and uses multi-tracking to create vocal layers and harmonies. The songs have been described as alternative folk inspired by music of the early 1970s." - Monterey County Weekly
MESSAGE FROM THE SILHOUETTE ERA:
"We're SUPER excited for this show! Not only are we releasing our video for 'Waste Me', but we're joined by a bunch of our friends for a truly stellar night of music in a great venue.
Were bringing our friends The Y Axes down from SF. Along with SC's Shoobies (who appear in the video), and Monterey's very own Alex Ramirez (who directed the video!)."
